The exam morning is short. The hours after a "yes" are when the place is actually taken, or lost. Each school writes its own clock. The times below are from those schools' April 2027 guidebooks. A different school can close the window the same evening.
The morning itself
Print the exam ticket before you leave, on the paper the school names, and read it for errors. Yamate says to bring that ticket. Yokohama Kyoritsu says to colour-print it, and to bring pencils or a mechanical pencil, an eraser, and indoor shoes. Phones and watches that calculate stay out of the room. Parents have a waiting room and cannot see the child until the exam ends. Parents need indoor shoes too.
Shiba's guidebook says a small earthquake that only delays the trains may lead the school to move the clock. If the capital area's transport is badly hit, Shiba says the day's exams are cancelled and held on a later date, under its agreement with Tokyo private schools. Keio Shonan Fujisawa's note, for its own returnee days, says that if almost every train has stopped and there is no prospect of them restarting, the planned exams are cancelled and restarted together later. Both tell you to read the school's website. Keio asks you not to phone: after an earthquake the lines are hard to get through.
Keio's first-day rules for the returnee exam: an HB or B pencil, an eraser, a wristwatch with no alarm and no calculator, no compass or ruler, no indoor shoes. Food is allowed only before a paper and in the breaks. An escort stays out of the school building and agrees a meeting place in advance. Cars stay off the campus and out of the streets and shop lots around it.
If your child cannot sit because of a school-designated infectious disease (categories 1 to 3), Yokohama Kyoritsu's guidebook says that child may sit the Kanagawa private-school association's common makeup exam on 9 Feb 2027, from 9:00, at the Kanagawa private-school hall (神奈川県私学会館). Phone the school office (045-641-3785). That sentence is about Kyoritsu's own exam. Ask any other school whether it joins the same makeup.
A yes is a payment deadline
Yamate publishes results only on the web. It does not post them at the school, and it does not answer a phone call about the result. Enrolment is complete when you pay the entrance fee of ¥260,000 on the enrolment site, by card, convenience store, Pay-easy or QR. The deadline printed in the guidebook is 12:00 on 6 Feb 2027. Miss it and the offer ends. The fee is not returned.
Yamate asks you to do it promptly, because other children are waiting for a place that opens (繰り上げ, kuriage, an offer moved up the list).
Other April 2027 clocks, each from that school's book:
School
Pay
If you miss it
What can come back
Yokohama Kyoritsu, round A (result 22:00 on 1 Feb)
Entrance fee ¥300,000 by 12:00 on 2 Feb
The offer ends
Facility fee is a second payment, ¥200,000, by 13:00 on 10 Feb
Yokohama Kyoritsu, round B (result 18:30 on 3 Feb)
¥300,000 by 12:00 on 4 Feb
The offer ends
Same facility-fee date
Hosei 2, general round 1
¥350,000 on miraicompass, 3 Feb 10:00 to 4 Feb 16:00, and collect the papers at the school in that window
Treated as a decline
Of the ¥350,000, ¥50,000 can be returned in May if the decline form arrives by 16:00 on 31 Mar 2027, or is postmarked that day. ¥300,000 is not returned
Yokohama Futaba, returnee (result 10:00 on 6 Dec 2026)
Entrance fee ¥300,000 by 20:00 on 11 Dec 2026
The offer is cancelled
Facility fee ¥200,000 can be paid with it, or by 16:00 on 10 Feb 2027. If you decline by 31 Mar 2027, the ¥200,000 is returned; the guidebook says the entrance fee is not
Senzoku, returnee
Entrance fee ¥240,000 and facility fee ¥178,000 on the my page, 21:00 on 9 Jan to 15:00 on 11 Jan 2027
Follow the book's window
The facility fee may be deferred (延納, en'nō) until 15:00 on 10 Feb 2027
Gakushuin boys, returnee
¥300,000 by 14:00 on 7 Dec 2026
Treated as a decline
The entrance fee is not returned. A later decline has to be filed quickly, because it changes the waiting list for the general exam
Kyoritsu will phone, from 12:00 on 4 Feb, if a vacancy opens and you are next. The call goes to the home number or the emergency number you typed. That is a different thing from asking the school, by phone, whether you passed. Kyoritsu says it does not take those calls. Its homepage posts the result about ten minutes after the enquiry site.
Hosei warns, in the same section, about payment-transfer fraud and impersonation. Pay on the school's miraicompass screen. A Pay-easy payment is not finished when you only request it. The transfer itself has to clear inside the window. Hosei also wants the bank-debit form at the office by 16:00 on 3 Mar 2027.
A pass does not cancel your other rounds
Yamate says you may still sit another Yamate round you already applied for. A later scholarship pass upgrades you. A later result does not cancel the pass you have. Skipping a round needs no phone call. At Kyoritsu, a family that passes round A, enrols, and had paid for round B pays ¥275,000, because round B's exam fee is deducted and refunded.
Keio SFC tells waiting-list families to download 繰上合格候補者への注意 between 23:30 on 4 Feb 2027 and 15:00 on 8 Feb. Enrolment is in person: 13:00–16:00 on 5 Feb, and 10:00–11:30 and 13:00–15:00 on 8 Feb. Miss those desks and the school will not offer the place.
What goes wrong
The place is lost by missing the printed payment hour, leaving a place you do not want still filled, or expecting the entrance fee back.
What to do now
Decide the decline rule in advance: which single school you would pay for if two say yes on the same night.
Your child's dates, not the general ones
Add your child and ward. The timeline does the rest.
