Rules for Nerima only. Other wards differ: check with your ward office.
Nerima ward (練馬区) requires a new application for its after-school club (学童クラブ, gakudō kurabu) even if your child is already in a club or already waiting. The page is the April 2027 intake (令和9年4月1日).
Dates
The pack, including the guide, can be downloaded or picked up from 13 October 2026. The employment certificate can be downloaded earlier.
The first-round application is 19 October to 13 November 2026:
- Online, all day.
- Counter at the child-rearing support section (子育て支援課), 10th floor of the main ward office, weekdays 8:30–17:15.
- At a ward after-school club, weekdays 9:30–18:00 and Saturdays 9:00–17:00.
The ward plans to mail results on 27 January 2027. Mail can take a few more days. If more children apply than a club can take, you may not get the club you asked for.
Other afternoons
The same page says an afternoon place can also be a plaza (ひろば) or a children's centre (児童館), not only the club. It asks you to hear what the child wants as they get older. The handbook linked from the page lists those places. Fees and how to pay are on a separate page, not in this article.
