Rules for Setagaya only. Other wards differ: check with your ward office.
Setagaya's after-school club is called the shin-BOP club (新BOP学童クラブ, shin-BOP gakudō kurabu). The ward's page for April 2027 entry (令和9年4月の入会) sets these windows:
| Round | Dates |
|---|---|
| First (１次受付) | Mon 2 Nov – Tue 15 Dec 2026 |
| Second (２次受付) | Fri 15 Jan – Wed 10 Feb 2027 |
| Outside the rounds (期間外受付) | Mon 1 – Wed 31 Mar 2027, only after a sudden move or job change |
- The ward asks you to apply in the first round. In the second round you get less time to fix a missing or wrong document.
- The March window is only for families who could not apply in either round because of a sudden move, a job change or similar. You must attach proof, such as a copy of the residence record (住民票の写し). If you apply on or after 16 March 2027, the earliest start is 16 April 2027.
How to apply
The application is online. On 7 October 2026 the page said April 2027 applications were not yet open and that the form would be posted on the page on 2 November 2026.
If you also want extended hours (時間延長利用, jikan enchō riyō), that is a separate application after the club form is complete. The link comes in the confirmation email.
Who qualifies, which papers you need, and the fee are in the ward's recruitment guide (令和９年度新ＢＯＰ学童クラブ児童募集案内), a PDF linked from the page. This article does not restate them.
Verify with the children's section (子ども・若者部 児童課 児童育成): 03-5432-2308.
