Eiken (英検, the English proficiency test run by the Eiken Foundation)
publishes three sessions a year for people who register themselves.
The page read on 7 October 2026 lists these windows. A school that asks
for a grade is a separate rule. This page does not say which grade to
take.

The second-stage speaking test is on a later Sunday. For grades 1
through 3, candidates aged 20 or under (born on or after 2 April 2005)
are on the B date, and candidates 21 or over are on the A date. Grades
4 and 5 have no second stage.
The venue is assigned from the area code you choose. You generally
cannot pick the building or change it later.
Fees at a standard venue, fiscal 2026
The page says these fees are 100 yen lower than the year before, tax
included. A candidate excused from the first stage pays the same.

If these dates do not work, the same page describes Eiken S-CBT, a
computer sitting at a test centre, currently for Pre-1, 2, Pre-2 Plus,
Pre-2 and 3. It says the qualification is equivalent. Overseas venues
use different dates, grades and fees, and grades 4 and 5 are not offered
there.
Register on the Eiken site. Verify the session you want there before
you pay.
