Who may apply
Finishing primary school in March 2027. The exam gives preferential treatment to children who (1) lived abroad 1 year or more and returned in or after April 2024, or (2) hold CEFR A2 English or above (Eiken pre-2 pass or CSE 1728+, TOEFL Junior 630+).

2027年3月に小学校卒業見込みの者／以下の条件のいずれかに該当する者には、優遇措置があります。① 海外在留１年以上で、2024年4月以降に帰国した者 ② 英語外部試験において、CEFR（ヨーロッパ言語共通参照枠）のA2レベル以上（実用英語技能検定の場合は準2級合格またはスコア1728以上、TOEFL Juniorの場合はスコア630以上）を取得済みの者

- The guide does not say how large the preference is; ask the school.
- English results count only if obtained on or after 1 February 2025.
- There is no separate returnee exam: returnees sit the same papers.
- Other rounds: a Japanese-and-maths scholarship round (特待選抜) on 1 February and exam B on 3 February.
- Families still abroad with no fixed return date can defer entry by up to a year.
