Itabashi ward: April 2027 daycare rounds close on different days

Itabashi ward (板橋区) prints the April 2027 daycare schedule (令和9年4月入所) in its kindergarten and daycare guidebook. The class is the child's age on 1 April. A birthday during the year does not move the child up a class.

First round

1–23 October 2026, and the papers must arrive by 23 October. Missing documents and changes of facility are accepted through 30 October 2026, and those must arrive too.

The ward plans to mail results on 5 February 2027. If the notice has not come, call the admissions desk on or after that day (3579-2452). A facility may call you before the notice arrives.

Extra counter hours: 6 and 13 October, 17:00–19:00, and Sunday 18 October, 9:00–17:00, at the admissions desk.

Second round

26 October 2026 to 12 February 2027, and the papers must arrive. The ward is already accepting forms on 26 October, but the document that proves you need daycare has to be issued on or after 12 November 2026 for this round. Send that document separately if you file early.

The ward plans to mail results on 12 March 2027.

Before the birth

A baby due between 12 October 2026 and 17 February 2027 can be applied for before birth, for the April first or second round only. Send a copy of the mother-and-child handbook page that shows the due date, and the pledge form. Within two weeks after the birth, send the page that shows the birth was registered.

Returning to work

If you apply on the basis that you will return from childcare leave, the guidebook says the deadline to return is the 1st of the month after you start. For an April start, that is 1 May.

The same guidebook says a second selection during an ordinary month now happens once, not every day until the last selection day. Verify with Itabashi's admissions desk before you rely on a monthly date later in the year.
