Ota ward: April 2027 daycare applications, and the mail deadline is earlier

Ota ward (大田区) is taking April 2027 daycare applications (令和9年4月, 1次利用調整). The page does not publish a separate second-round date for April. Ask the ward if you miss this window.

When to apply

For a child born, or due, on or before 17 February 2027:

• Counter and online: 1 October to 30 November 2026, plus Sunday 8 November.
• Mail: 1 October to 9 November 2026, and it must arrive. A postmark is not enough.

An application before the birth is only for April entry, not for a later month. You need the consent form for applying before birth (出生前の保育所利用申込みに関する同意書).

How to send it

Online cannot be used if you also apply to a daycare in another municipality. It is only for people who live in Ota, or who will move in by the 1st of the month they want, and who want only an Ota licensed daycare, small-scale daycare or employer daycare.

Anything received online after midnight on the deadline is treated as the next month's application. The ward says it is not responsible if a network failure stops the send.

Mail must be trackable, such as registered mail (書留). Include the checklist (大田区保育園申請書類11チェックリスト). If the postage is short, the ward says it cannot receive the papers. The ward is not responsible if a parcel does not arrive by the deadline.

The ward will accept an employment certificate (就労証明書) with no stamp, but the certificate date, the representative's name, the phone number and the staff member's name still have to be filled in. If a parent makes or alters the certificate without the employer, the ward says an offer can be cancelled, and a child already enrolled can be removed.

Keep a copy

The ward will not return the application form. From April 2025 the procedure for extending childcare-leave benefits (育児休業給付金) when no place is offered has changed. The page tells you to copy the form before you submit it, and to ask your employer or the Hello Work office that covers your workplace. It does not itself explain the new national steps.

Guides have been handed out at the counter since 25 September 2026. The application itself starts on 1 October. Verify with Ota's childcare service section (保育サービス課, 03-5744-1280).
