Shibuya ward: the April 2027 first-round daycare schedule

Shibuya ward (渋谷区) has published the first round for April 2027 daycare (令和9年度4月一次募集). This page does not publish a second round.

Dates

• Online and mail: 1 October to 20 November 2026.
• Counter, by reservation: 22 October to 27 November 2026, 9:00–16:00, last reservation 15:30, weekdays. Extra counters: Tuesday 3 November (a holiday) and Saturday 21 November, same hours.
• A baby due on or before 1 April 2027 uses this same schedule.
• Missing documents must arrive by 4 December 2026 or they are not part of the adjustment.
• Results are planned for 3 February 2027. The notice is posted that day and can take up to a week to arrive.

The counter is the later deadline. Online and mail close on 20 November.

An employment certificate (就労証明書) is valid only if it was certified on or after 15 September 2026. It is also required for an online application. The ward said the rest of the fiscal-2027 forms would be posted on 1 October 2026.

If you do not live in Shibuya yet

You cannot use the online form. File at the counter or by mail.

If you will not have moved into Shibuya by 31 March 2027, you cannot apply in this first round.

If you apply as someone who will move in, you must apply again with Shibuya after you move, by 31 March 2027, whatever the result was. If you do not, the offer is cancelled. In the adjustment, people who already live in Shibuya come first.

If you live in Shibuya and want a daycare somewhere else, and you are not moving, you file Shibuya's copies of that city's forms at Shibuya's counter. Ask the other city for its deadline and its rules first. The papers have to reach that city by its deadline.

Interpreter

If you need an English interpreter, reserve a weekday slot at 9:00–11:30 or 14:00–15:30. Reservations open on 1 October 2026, by phone, at the counter, or on the ward's LINE account, and should be made by the day before. One household gets 30 minutes.
